Learners in one classroom are both similar and at same time
different as everybody knows each human being is unique; on the other hand,
people can be similar, but not identical. That’s why, teachers must take in to
account the different ways in which students learn. Some common differences are
age, gender, socio-economic conditions and level of education; however ,
teachers can find other differences such as cognitive ability ( intelligence),
language proficiency levels, motivation for language learning, and personality
traits, so the teachers’ duty is discover new techniques or strategies for
teaching English without forgetting the macro skills: reading, listening,
writing and speaking.
Some studies
support the idea that there is a special age for learning a language. Moreover,
men and women not only are different physically but also are different mentally,
so men and women learn in a different way. Another very important point is the
socio –economic conditions; many people can think that it is not true, but it
is because nowadays in El Salvador public education is too low; that’s why,
private education are becoming in the best choice. However, most people cannot
pay this kind of education.
To sum up, some
learning differences come from external factors that people cannot change
because of the economical system of the country.
